Hey all,

After recently scouring some threads, I found some information that could derail my project.

Basically, A 78 Malibu body is going through a frame off 'restoration', per say. I have the 78 Malibu body, which at that point, if I understand correctly, was considered an A body. The body was supposed to be planted on a 87 G Body Chassis.

Ive done a little reading, and I've seen that its possible that the chassis will NOT line up.

Can anyone confirm this?

All help is appreciated!

You'd sure think there would be somebody on this site that could answer that question. I can't say for sure but in doing a little research with the Generals' tools, I discovered that the early frames (A-Body) went from 76-81 then the second generation (G-Body) frame goes from 82-88. I can't imagine there's that much difference but being how the A-Body frame was used on the 76-77 cars, that concerns me a little. PM me your eMail address and I'll send you the frame and body mount pdfs for both generations. You may consider stopping at the local frame shop to see if the dimensions are the same or similar.

Likely what you are reading is relating to the 78-80 Monte Carlo, the front frame horns are longer than G body cars. Since you didn't say what G body donated the frame Im going to assume it was a 2 door car, The El Camino had a longer wheelbase than your Malibu.

Whoops!

Sorry about that! The chassis came from a Monte SS Aerocoupe.

Unfortunately, the stuff I just sent you was for 78-81 Malibu and 82-88 everything else. Went in and looked and appears to be the same drawing. Can't really tell because all the parts are discontinued so all of the part numbers are gone. ...
