Before I put the car away for the winter I had a backfire issue causing me grief. Went over a lot of things with no results. I ended up finding it last night, a plug wire burnt on the header. Couldn't see it under the ceramic heat sleeve. Best part is this has happened before.

I am going to need to wrap these headers so they stop burning up the wires. Anyone else using Hooker #2451 headers? They have almost no plug clearance.

I know alot of guys run the plug wires under the headers instead of over top. Maybe try this??

Don't have those headers, but i was having same issue with my headers and i bought a different style of wire holder.

Similar to these:

With these I was able to route and get rid of all the slack in my ignition wires and it stays off my headers.

I have a decent set of wire looms. The plug wires are burning up near the end close to the boot. I guess another option is the shorty spark plugs.

Ended up wrapping the headers. So far so good, need to get out for a long drive to see how things hold up.

I don't like the heat sleeves, they hold in the heat and I've ruined a few of my ultra 40 sleeved wires thanks to the heat sleeves. Like 83MONTESS suggested I run the wires under the headers now and have no issues burning wires any longer

If you have a vacuum leak or anything else causing your engine to be even slighty lean, the headers will get alot hotter than normal.
