Re: Chime wont shut off!--Where does this ground go?

that is not a factory ground wire it could have been from a alarm or radio it should have nothing to do with your chime mod you need to see all circuts from the fuse that was blown most fuses power more than one thing dave

Re: Chime wont shut off!--Where does this ground go?

Yeah I realized that wire was from something unrelated.

Basically here's where its at. My factory radio was not putting out sound for awhile. Bought a new aftermarket one, decided not to keep it. Left no radio hooked up. After that the chime would be on the entire time the lights are on. Finally figured out a fuse blew. Replaced it and it blew again in 2 minutes. Hooked the old radio back up to see if maybe it was serving as a ground. Drove it tonight for about 35 minutes all was well until I turned onto my street, fuse popped, buzz came back.

That fuse serves the Center gauge cluster(which is out of order, waiting for a friend to help install new printed circuit board), Dash warning lights, VSS, TCC, Trunk release(which I don't have) and rear window defogger(which hasn't been hooked up for awhile, long story).

Its either a huge coincidence that something is having a problem causing this or I messed something up messing with the radio. My fear too that it could be something in the ignition itself. I tried running the car and turning the wheel several times to see if it would pop the fuse from something inside the column and nothing. Im lost. sh*t is aggravating.

Your printed circuit may well be shorting.

You could be right. I was thinking that, but I wasn't really messing around near there. Doesn't mean it isn't though. I was also thinking that I was running wires to the trunk for a speaker box, but I abandoned the idea. I might have disturbed the ground for the door switch since its the only ground in that circuit. I'll check that later.

Here was the culprit...

A bundle of harnesses no longer used after the engine swap had come loose from a zip tie and one melted on the headers. Thank god, on to bigger and better things!!!!
