hi guys i just got my 81 3.8 cutlass up and running for the first time in a while.. only problem is i have check engine light flashing.. it seems to run fine all the way until you start to pull up a hill and it has a hesitaion problem.. runs and drives perfectly fine until then.. its not every hill either.. just like 4-10 probably does anyone have any idea on what this could be ? i was thinking egr valve maybe? or throttle position sensor if this has one.. thanks any help is appreciated

What trouble codes are there? Have you jumpered it out yet to retrieve them? For whatever it's worth, GM C and H bodies with the 3800 can have this issue when the torque converter locks up and there is weak spark. I've owned a few of them with high mileage and have corrected the issue with new plug wires.
 
i just put plugs wires dist cap rotor fuel filter air filter on it yesterday... i belive the light flashes 3 times pauses for 1 sec then 2 flashes.?
