Anybody have any suggestions of how to remove the clear powder coat on the polished aluminum trim pieces? I would like to polish some of the trim on my 85. The only way I've found is to sand it off which is a pain-in-the-***.

I use Easy Off heavy duty oven cleaner, I just put a thick coat on and let it sit for about 5 minutes (you will see when it is working) not letting any area get dry and then rinse it off.
After they are rinsed off I will scotch brite them to smooth everything out and if necessary I will wet sand them with ultrafine grit paper.
These valve covers below were clear coated when I got them and I stripped them and polished them.

Is this referring to the anodized aluminum trim? I've yet to find a successful DIY way to deanodize that stuff.
