83 BUICK REGAL making a clone.

1) Vynal roof was deleted and the studs, windows are being replaced in the body shop right now. How does the rear window glass (back/w/defog) trim go on? I ordered it and am waiting for arrival. Dont know of Ill need clips or if Ill need to have stud put on the outside near the rear glass.

ANSWER: Order Studs for trim (aurg)

2) Where do or how do I get black bumpers? I got chrome ones off at T-Type 86 with Aluminum supports. But, thats chrome. I want black. I taked to a sand blaster and he said he can hit the surface and get it to a texture that powder coat will adhear. What other options are there?

ANSWER: Take Chrome Bumpers and have powder coated or painted after stripping or purchase / recon orginal bumpers.

3) I have found pictures with people color matching bumpers, I am going to do this instead. I assume that cemical stripping is the best idea. Anyone have better dierctions? For stripping and or painting / prep? Should I start with a GN bumper?

4) Is there a bumper mod that should be done? Front or rear (example: license plate holes filled)?

I will add more questions, I assume that is how "WE" do it on this board?

Re: Help with the clone questions. - and build thead

Since its a Buick move the thread to the Regal section. Thats where you will find the Buick "experts"

I thought it was in the buick section......

If I posted it in the wrong area, sorry guys.

Moved to the "buick" section...
To answer your question, typically, the trim is held on with clips. Those clips slide onto small studs in the space between. You should be able to find them pretty easily on ebay or a restoration company (yearone, classic industries, etc..). I'm pretty sure they make them so that you can drill a hole and screw them in, in fact, I'm positive that's how I did it on my old GP.

So I paid all that money to remove holes and studs and now I have to put more back in? Really? Really?

Re: Help with the clone questions. - and build thead

The black fiberglass bumpers are available through Kirban Performance. Along with the trim for everything  They are like a 1-stop-shop for GN parts

Not really, because they are in a different spot. To install the rear glass trim, it's probably best to remove the glass and install those studs. It's very similar to how the trim is fastened around the front windshield

Never had to install studs. Is it even possiable or should I do a riv-nut or thread-cert type fitting?
