ok so ive been on this forum alot lately trying to fix a couple of small bugs with the car, 1985 cutlass supreme, mainly the speedo and a front end problem.

After finishing an aftermarket stereo system install last week which i have saved money for for ages might i add, i got a little scare this morning.

Getting ready to leave for work this morning i noticed that the lock was down on the passenger side, however when i rounded the car, the driver side power luck was up. WTF. Now there is an alarm on this car that should sound as soon as nebody even comes close, but to my suprise, alarm still set, and door open.

Thats when i noticed inside. The car had been given a once over by some thiefs. The glove box torn out, everytyhing in the floor. Automatically i look to my dvd head unit, pulled out but left dangling by the harness. WTF. What the hell did they take??????

Then it occurred to me, check the trunk, check the trunk. I pop it up, subwoofers and amp, still there! I mean this has me stumped to the bone.

I wish they would have taken somthing so i'm not left to wonder like i am now. A better question is how they opened a power lock on one side of the car without disturbing the other side and not tripping the alarm.

With all that work they must have took something. I just have to figure out what it is.

Disgusted, Tyler

sounds like they got spooked and ran off or they figured the stereo wasn't worth the hassle. As far as getting in to begin with, with any gbody you can grab the window and pull it back far enough for a skinnny guy to reach their arm in and pull up on the lock. Why the alarm did not go off is a good question though.

I watched a program once whereas someone took a mulifunction remote control device ( like you buy for your tv ) and reconfigured it to work with alarm systems and garage door openers. They just sat right next to a car in a parking lot and pointed the remote at the car and kept pushing a button until the locks popped and the interior lights came on in the car.

Likely they slim-jim'd the door and the alarm DID go off and they figured they would just rip the stereo out and grab anything in the glovebox ... when that took too long they left. So criminals are just brazen. Odds are knowing there is an alarm, doubt they will be back.
