What’s this mesh called help!

I’m changing out my evaporator core and heater core . And this mesh is falling apart I would like to find it new so I can put it on the new evaporator core . If anyone got an idea of where I can get it would appreciate it . First time changing these out 1987 Buick regal

I asked the same question a few years ago when I did my 86' Regal

AC Evaporator foam

I am replacing all of my AC components for my 86' Regal project and just pulled out the evaporator and there is a thin foam on one side facing the heater core that has fallen mostly off, what is it's purpose? And do I need to replace it for the new evaporator?

When you put everything back together dont forget the thin ground wire.

all it is is open cell foam that catches dust/dirt from going into the cooling fins. not really needed as already pointed out
