Im trying to figure out how to add cold air intake on myu 85 cutty its comes fully stocked 3.8 v6 engine 231cu carb.....the air filter sits inside a black plastic covering ......thanks gents !

Your Carbed 2BBL 3.8 isn't exactly a speed demon to begin with so I wouldn't go crazy spending big bucks or designing something.

Get either a Camaro dual snorkel air cleaner from the late 90's with the dual cold air tubes and use a K&N.

Or what I'd really recommend is just a K&N style round filter with the K&N filter lid to it.

A 90's camaro air cleaner won't work. Unless you want to fabricate one, its not easy. The top of the carb on the 3.8s is odd- shaped, so no round air filter bases will fit. What do you mean by "fully-stocked"?
