I’m posting this in general area because it’s not really a technical question , but if it should be in paint section , my apologies .
My car has been in paint shop all winter and is finally about a week away from colour
My plan had been to simply repaint it the stock two tone brown it came with.
I’m spending a lot of bread on this paint job and I want it to “pop”, so I started investigating pearls and metallics etc .
I went and spoke to my painter , telling him “… I want it to pop ..”
he replied ,” .. don’t paint it brown then! ..”
He showed me a whole lot of amazing colours in his back storage room and old cards he had from previous jobs
By the end of the conversation he was suggesting I walk new car lots for inspiration and exact paint codes .
I’m leaning a little toward 2014 ford blue flame metallic , but in no way set on blue … or any colour now
I’ve always thought cutlass looked better in neutral colours but I DONT KNOW !!! LOL
I’d love to hear any suggestions or ideas
This is her before she went in for paint
Also any pics would be a bonus , we all love pics of nice goodies
Thank you in advance for your assistance in this matter 😀

You really want opinions ?
I would do the car in the exact same color combination. My 81 is the factory color. My 83 wagon is as close as I could get it without the green tint it used to have. I see guys paint cars fancy one off colors all the time. Not for me. I'd rather see a 69 Camaro in a factory color instead of some crazy pearl red. Same goes for a clean G body like yours. Especially since your car is a unique color combination. Its classy. You also have to consider what the interior color will look like with the body color. If the interior is a dark brown its going to look pretty funky with a blue body. We all have diffferent tastes but I think your car looks amazing the way it sits. Of course thats just my opinion.

BTW, the ONLY thing I would change is the narrow side trim would have to go. LOL

thanks for the reply
Yes the narrow trim is deleted regardless of colour
I really like the light colour on top but the brown on the side is … ok
I believe I’d be happy with a stock style repaint I’m just afraid that I may overlook an option I hadn’t thought of then be disappointed at my shortsightedness later .
I once had a 383 built to my specs with all good parts and it was a great motor but once the smoke cleared I realized I could have had big block or turbo LS for similar money and more power .
I’m just trying to avoid that feeling

GM Martinique Bronze/Sandalwood Tan.
That’s what I have now, or pretty close I think ?
I quite like the lighter top colour as seen on underside of trunk lid ,but I’m not 100% convinced on the darker lower colour
I’ve asked about adding a pearl to the paint but it’s not recommended apparently
Both stock paints are a metallic so maybe they be a little nicer when freshly shot

Also if I do the stock two tone ,I plan to change the colour transition and move it a couple inches lower to follow the body line .

I wouldnt add a pearl. Real hard to touch up if you ever need it down the road.

Funny how we all see colors differently. Ive always liked the top and bottom colors of your car. Like I said, classy. Having the car a two toned in both colors ? I'd give my left nut for a car that clean. LOL

It wasn’t as nice as pics show ,topside was very faded the pigment would come off on your hand if you rubbed it
Yes I too agree that the original paint is classy , and as I’ve said I’d probably be happy with it .
it has been my choice for last few months to just repaint it the stock colours .
Just afraid of making a mistake , just second guessing maybe ?
