Is it possible? I installed some cheap painted dynatech long tube headers, and the column shift linkage wouldn't fit. I didn't try to route it around or anything, just installed a b&m floor shifter and swapped bench for buckets. I want it changed back to bench and column shift, is there any way to route the linkage around the header? If not, i'll just swap back to exhaust manifolds. Any advice is helpful, thanks.

It worked on my Cutlass w/o any mods to anything. However, the linkage was rubbing against the collector. I was changing to a floor shifter anyway, so I didn't care cause it was only temporary.

So I just went out to the garage and looked at my headers and linkage situation, there is absolutely no room for my column shift linkage to fit, so now I'm swapping back to manifolds. Anyone in the Charleston, SC area want to trade stock manifolds and exhaust system up to rear muffler for long tube dynatech mufflers and custom exhaust? Willing to trade B&M Z-gate shifter and linkage for column shift stuff. PM me.

Man, why do you have to be so far away! I'm looking to swap to floor shift and buckets! When you do swap can I get your inner seat mounting brackets?

dude, my bucket seat install is so shady, one of the reasons im swapping back. the seats are out of a 90 suburban, i just drilled holes in the floor and bolted the seats down. **** that, i dont know what i was thinking. im from cali, but im stationed here, which sucks. i miss the west coast.

I had Hooker Comp longtubes with my column shift. On our cars it doesn't matter what kind of column you have in an automatic car, it'll always have that linkage unless someone cut it off. I saw a Cutlass with a small block Chevy in it today and it looks like the Hooker Super Comp headers fit really nicely.

there is literally no clearance between my exhaust and where the linkage would be. I'm done with trying to make it perform, just wanna cruise now.

Yea I have seen them on a lot of g-bodies, I imagine though on a big block w/ some super comps on it may encounter some problems, but smallblocks should have no problem.

So I've been doing research and the reason my linkage doesn't clear is because I had the exhaust shop I took it too weld flanges on, and they're right in the way of the linkage. so I'm gonna take it to another shop when I get her going and have them move some sh*t around. I'm still missing the bracket that bolts to what I think is the proportioning valve. I replaced the valve a while back because I had a brake problem, and it ended up being some binding in my lines, but when I replaced it, I had installed my floor shifter and no longer needed it. So if anyone has this bracket, I want it.
