I hope you guys are still around here....
So I swapped the column shift non tilt column in my 85 cutlass to a floor shift tilt column.
The problem I'm running into is a no start issue, not even a draw on the battery when the ignition is turned.
One thing I did notice is the rod on my oe column pushes as the key is turned and the new tilt one pulls the rod.
Could the pin out for the plug be different?
Does anyone have the wiring diagram for both to compare?
Thanks

Edit.... so I've read the tilt ignition switch is upside down to the non-tilt... I assume because of the push vs pull of the actuator rod. Can someone verify this??? If that's the case then I don't think my problem is there?

Are you using the old ignition switch from the non tilt column to the new tilt column? They are diffrent not sure if harness plugs are the same but i believe they are.. Hopefully you can make out the diagram.. it's for a regal but should be the same.

Hey Slowpoke, no I'm not... I picked up this rebuilt column 4 or 5 years ago and had a chance to finally swap it out. It came with new keys. Imay swap my old column back in to see if the results are the same... but honestly I'm thinking a wire is in the wrong spot between the two. Just finished a night shift so I'll do some more comparisons over the weekend. Thanks for the diagram, I really wish I knew exactly what year car this column came from.

Both switches plug in the same configuration. IIRC, you just have to flip the existing plug-ins 180. It's just the pull or push is different.

The lower column switch is GM p/n 1990116, aka ACDelco D1405B, or equivalent. ALL 78-88 A/G Bodies WITH TILT column.

If you have a standard column, GM p/n 1990115, aka ACDelco D1404B, is the lower column switch for ALL 78-88 A/G Bodies with NON-tilt.

Did a bit more research on this. All the Delco switches for 78-88 G-bodies are discontinued from GM, although available elsewhere in secondary markets.

There is another couple of Delco switch p/n out there that I believe would work as well, but it's for a different car/application. Just have to "modify" it to turn it into a 1990116 with the tilt wheel (RPO N33). More research is needed to see if it's actually feasible.
