Yeah Id replace my heads but I always hear stories of people swapping heads and cleaning the valves an new head gasket and all the good sh*t and then something ****s up with the bottom end but yeah removing the computer though taxing and having a few strings attached is a good thing

whats the benefits?
how can i do it?
wats the cons?
In my situation, I still have the ECM in the car, just not hooked to the engine. My 350 motor never ran with the ECM, so I prefer to leave it that way. Being able to tune an engine with a screwdriver, timing light and a distributor wrench is the benefit. With the ECM, theres too many variables, too many components that can fail. Other than the check engine light being on, theres nothing to notice about disconecting the ECM. I left it in the car because I didnt want to remove the fender to get it out, although I have read that you just have to loose a few screws on the inner fender well and you can remove it that way. Smog pumps, EGR valves, Cats, O2 sensors, ECMS are fine for modern engines that were built to run with em, but I prefer engines that were built to run on air, fuel, spark and a heavy right foot...

The computer is located behind the passenger side kick panel, at the floor of the interior of the car

I just cut the connector off and pulled the wiring harness through the firewall grommet that it runs through. Then I filled the grommet with black RTV  But I also don't have a heater box, I guess that makes a world of difference.

*I am trying to stay ahead of Autozone and Advance, but this new store I am in is right in the center of a 10 year road construction project and our walk-in bussiness is quite slow :|
