You can buy a set of gears and everything needed such as bearings, gasket, fluid, for about 300-350. Having someone install it will be another 2-300 depending on prices in your area. So your looking at 5 to 600 but it will give you way more performance than any chip you will buy.
now heres another question what if i buy both?

Well I have no experience with chips for g body cars. I really dont know what good it would give you. I mean the computer in those cars isnt very smart. Your still running a carb and HEI distributor. I am not the person to ask on that. However if you want more power, this is what I would do.
1. Replace computer carb and distributor with edelbrock 600 and ebay hei distributor or one from a junkyard for 20 dollars.
2. Edelbrock Performer intake
3. Headers
4. True duals

I say do all this because it will give you a noticeable increase of power and if and when you decide to upgrade to a larger engine, this stuff will all swap over to another small block of the same brand.

isnt this carb stronger? http://www.summitracing.com/parts/HLY-64-70092/

Wow they are smoking crack. I wouldnt pay a 100 for a rochester. They arent junk by any means but I think there are other carbs out there that are better. That one looks like a computer controlled one as well, so you wouldnt be upgrading except it is rebuilt, you could have it rebuilt for well under what they are asking.

Aftermarket intake manifolds will not match up to the small ports of the 7A heads. Do you have the 7A heads? What year is your ho 307 and are you sure it's an ho?

Qjets rule on the street. Are you looking for a CCC carb or old school carb?

Dudeface, thanks for the pics. Yes, that's the vacuum switch I was refering to. I couldn't tell from the pic, but it appears to be routed to the purge port on the carb ( medium sized nipple on front throttle plate of carb )?

Yeah, if you or any other of north can get any of those blue delay valves ( GM # 14020691 ), let me know. If shipping isn't too expensive, I'll take a couple. Never hurts to have a backup ( and make it worth the shipping costs  ).

does not go to the carb............but goes to the front most sensor on the car. included another picture. the line t's into the top line on the front most temp/vacum sensor (mines purple) that line it t's into goes from that sensor to the EGR valve. in the photo you can see the line coming in parallel to the fuel filter housing, and the t's into one of those hard pvc vacum lines.
the lower vacum line from that sensor goes to the carb......also visible in the latest photo running the same curve as the fuel line to the fuel filter housing

hope that helps

peace

Yeah I think I'm a bit confused! I won't be running through any TVS or anything, but overall just wanted to know what port on the carb it gets it's vacuum from. I'm also assuming it's ported vacuum?

And even though I'm confused, I appreciate the pics.
