Control arm bushings

I ran into a little trouble this afternoon. I'm so close to getting this GN 8.5" rear end into the El Camino but the Control arm bushings kicked my @$$. The rear end didn't come with them so I got some Poly ones from Jeggs. I tried one side with grease, heat, wd40, rubber mallet ect and only got it in half way. Is there a trade secret or would a shop have some type of hydraulic press? Now I did beet the hell out of this thing for 20 min. before I quit.

Some people have using a ball joint press, it looks like a big c-clamp and you can get them as a loaner from most auto parts stores.

I have never done this personally, these are just some of the suggestions that I've come across.

The ball joint press kits that you can rent from tool rental shops work pretty well. The are a lot stronger that a typical c-clamp and not that expense to rent.
