Alright guys I am getting ready to start pulling the old Diesel engine from my Cutlass so that I can drop in the 403. I know that there are going to be things that I need to get rid of and swap out while there are some things that I can reuse.

Has anyone here done this conversion before?

I should have no issues reusing the diesel radiator with the 403 right? How about the oil cooler? As far as the gas tank and fuel lines go I plan on running new lines anyway, is there anything I need to do to the tank besides just flushing it and making sure there is no diesel left in it?

I am sure I will come up with more questions as I get into this process.

The transmission might need upgrading to deal with the new engine, I think (correct me if I'm wrong) most diesels had TH200 transmissions, your 403 will make more power and torque and at higher engine speeds than the diesel.

As long as you have a complete carb to pan engine (you might need to swap pans) the swap is easy enough.
I assume you are referringto the engine oil cooler?, you won't need it but it might be a good idea to use it anyway, it's no big deal to use the diesel oil pump with the fittings to bolt it in.

Roger.

I will have to double check the trans I am pretty sure it was a TH350 under there but if not I have 2 others that can go on the 403. That is complete, though I think I will rebuild the carb and I do have an edelbrock intake to swap out the old cast iron piece.

Yeah I was refering to the engine oil cooler, I know the 403 should not run as hot as the diesel so I wasn't sure if it would be a good idea or not.

My 403 had cooling issues. If the oil cooler isn't leaking, use it. It should be just changing the oil filter adapter.
