Thanks for info. What do you think I should try other then a 2800?
Since it's your DD and you avoid the highway I'd recommend a slightly higher STR with a stall that lands you in the meat of the power band when you shift, and that'll be over 3k with that cam. I can speak from experience when I say that a 3k stall with a low STR is absolute hell in the city- you waste gas like crazy. But if you spend the $$ then they can be a red-light-rocketship while also not cooking things. I've said it before and I'll say it again: Do not buy cheap/ off the shelf converters if you can avoid it. Buying a torque converter is not a time to be frugal, it's when a smart person pays extra. Something in the 3-4k range from a reputable brand should work for your setup, and B&M ain't a reputable brand. Neither TCI nor Hughes make my list either.
YANK:
Available in 2800, 3200, 3400, and 4k with or without lockup, single or triple disc clutch. Triple adds $320 to the price. They also have converters for boosted applications. The TH350 is often not listed, however, these are made to order and they WILL make you one at no additional charge since all of their converters are made to order. The $1099 sticker is the base price before options.
Circle D:
This is the brand I chose for my '04 GMC but have not installed it yet. Your situation has 5 size options and 6 stall ranges.
Pro Torque:
I have no experience with these but have heard good things and the staff was helpful when I called. If it matters to you, this is the brand that Big Chief (Street Outlaws) runs/ran in his DD truck. They are more budget friendly than Yank or Circle D but aren't quite at the same level without spending more, though you may not need the frills that the others offer.
