Has anyone tried to convert their old slider style HVAC control to something of a newer flavor. Like the knob style. I picked up a HVAC panel from a 95-02 cavalier. It has 4 blower speeds, uses a cable for the temp blend door, and vacuum lines for where the air goes. ie, defrost, floor, vent, etc.

I have to hunt down the wiring diagram for the cavalier, seems to be a little elusive, but I'll find it.

Why do i want to do this? I have a GP dash in my Buick wagon, and the insert is all custom, Autometers and all that. i need to make room for a double DIN touch screen, and I like how the knob look and they are lit better.

Anyone have info, links, it would be greatly appreciated. In the mean time, I'll post what I find as I start the conversion.

Its a great idea of you can pull it off.I think the last of the b bodies had the knobs but not sure how its controled.

He is a member here too it seams, I saw that build. But I think he also used the camaro ductwork, or some of it? Maybe he'll cruize thru this thread.

I'll have to see the later B-body HVAC controls, anyone have a picture?

Here is a picture of the cavalier unit that I got, It's a bit wider then the slider, but incorporates the defrost too so.

Good luck . Should be able to get conntroll going with out to much fab work . As for look department well no improvement
I guess you like the siders?

The fab work is negligible, since the GP gauge insert is gonna get redone. The looks, well it gives me a slightly modern feel. But more importantly, I'll be able to see it better when it is tucked closer to the column, or wherever else non stock I put it.
