I am going to be checking out a 1969 olds 350 complete motor. I am told it was running when it was pulled from the car. I read somewhere if its a 4 barrel it came between 290 and 350 HP stock. If its real I want to have it cleaned up and rebuilt to be around 350 HP so what should I expect to pay on the average to have this done by a good engine shop. I am not wanting a strip motor just a good solid fast street car that does not break other parts all the time.

depends on a lot of things, a looot of things. Rebuild could be anywhere from around 500-2500 just for the bottom end. If the block is salveagable then thats a start. More info would be needed on the engine, is it yours, is it running, are you looking at buying it?
