The governor just signed a bill that will limit how much methane cows can fart in the State of California.

Did you know that vehicles emit methane? It isn't reduced by the catalytic converter, either.

Are you serious? How do you limit am animals natural way of expelling is gas? That is funny.

Back in 2009 i read they wanted to ban the sale of dark colored cars in California because they absorbed more sunlight creating more emissions but that didn't happen.

Tough smog rules there.

The amount of methane/how often cows fart is directly related to what they eat! Just like us humans! Funny how that works right?

Grass fed/pasture raised cattle are less gassy than those fed hay and grain.

I will not eat hay and grain to reduce my passing of wind....

Actually "tough" in the wrong ways, and ineffective. The cutpoints for the tailpipe test are such that badly tuned vehicles pass with flying colors, while the visual inspection nitpicks about useless junk under the hood. Even CARB's own studies have consistently concluded that Smogcheck has never been effective. They did manage to cut the smog in Los Angeles in half, mainly because of the requirements on car makers.

Not all of that equipment is useless. One of the big sources of car pollution is vapors escaping from the fuel tank while the car is parked. The evap system absorbs the vapors and stores them to be burned. The only test is to park the car in a sealed chamber for 2 weeks to see how much vapors it emits. Not even CA is that crazy so instead of that they just have visual to make sure those parts have not been screwed with by shadetree mechanics cluelessly monkeying around under the hood. OBD2 cars have enhanced evap systems that are more tightly sealed and use a gas tank pressure sensor to monitor for leaks.

You're nitpicking! 😀

Actually, I do appreciate the evap system, unlike some around here. Beyond that, I often find myself wishing those "vapor recovery" nozzles (that cause so much trouble trying to fill our tanks) would recover more vapor than they do.

Two questions on that cow law. Will this create new jobs to test the cows to ensure they meet the standards? Will they have a program to crush cows for pollution credits for big farms? This sounds a good as Pa's smart meter law to cut back on green house gases.

I have heard that grass fed cows also have leaner, more healthy beef than grain feed cows and is supposed to taste better too.
