I was researching the options for a brake upgrade for my 1978 Malibu and found that CPP will release a new spindle using C5 parts instead of the Blazer option. I thought someone might have more information about the release date. They have the kits for other A-bodies available now but not yet for G-bodies. They have pictures out but not much in the way of details. The A-body kits look nice and the price is not bad but I don't know about quality? Anyone know any more about these? Thanks!

nice, but i'm betting the blazer spindles and brackets will still be cheaper. no sense in spending more money to have the exact same thing.

Those would accept C5 brakes whereas the Blazer still needs more pieces/mods to accept C5 brakes in my understanding...

No mods needed, just the C5 caliper bracket (IIRC, there's a post on this sight that has the dimensions for that bracket). I think that you could buy that bracket and the ZQ8 spindle cheaper then the CCP spindle. There are 2 things that would make the CCP spindle worth looking at: 1) bolt on steering arms ...and 2) if it would be a tall spindle!

Thanks for the input! I don't have G-body prices but the have several kits and they are $269 spindle only and $649 for the complete kit. That covers A-bodies, Nova's and Camaro's so I would guess the same!

Hey Dan, do you have any pics of your car? Sounds like a fun car from reading your signature!!!

I have some old pictures on my old computer and will try to post some. I am currently working on it and it is on jack stands.

I emailed CPP and they hope to have the G-body spindles this year. I plan to buy the spindles and assemble my brakes using true C5 parts from my local parts houses. I wanted to be able to use C5/6 upgrades but the spindles look great, cast overseas but machined in house. They offer a complete kit but according to a couple of Magazine Articles and posts on forums they use oversize Calipers and Rotors, perhaps from a GM Truck? It seems to be a tall spindle but they claim it will work with stock or aftermarket upper 'A' frames. Will update if I get additional information.

I have learned the Calipers CPP used in their kits are PBR's(not Beer) with larger pistons than the factory C5 uses.
