Craigslist: Mistaken Identity

I've been searching my local Craigslist for a future project and saw this add. It says Regal but it sure looks like a Riviera to me maybe 85" but I pretty sure they were FWD but did the engine still sit normal like that? http://detroit.craigslist.org/wyn/cto/3502602876.html

You're right, it does look more like a Riviera than a Regal. Boy were they ugly..

I'm pretty positive that all of those pictures are of a Riviera. I'm pretty sure I've heard of those coming with Oldsmobile 307s and I've never seen a 307 mounted sideways.

The engine does sit that way in that gen Riviera. Could have had a Olds 307 or Olds 350 Diesel.

I did an engine rebuild on one of those when i was living in Florida many years ago. You'll notice the engine sits forward and it's probably a TH 350 behind it. It's a weird set up but it drives nice with no noticeable torque on the steering wheel.

edit... I just noticed that it has overdrive so it's not a TH 350. I looked it up and it's a THM325 4L which I have never heard of

its a buick rivera, olds 307 or 350 diesel, fwd trans, they do drive nice but those trasmissions were weak you cant put a lot of power to them, looks like a 307 to me,i think the diesel has 2 wing nuts on the air cleaner housing

The 325-4l is the "backwards" version of a 200-4r, matter of fact I've heard that a lot of the mods that apply to a 200-4r can be done to a 325-4l.
