I have an 85 LS and I am looking at different motor options and trying to peice things together and get everything set up. This way I know what to pair up with what when I restore my LS and well I have been looking into the Smedding Performance. They have a 383 EFI with 370HP and 430LBS of TQ and its priced about $6000. I would like to have 400 HP but well I dont want to tub anything out and I dont want so much power i cant put it to the ground so what kinda motors and HP and TQ is everyone else running and does anyone else have any good Leads on crate motors that are basically a turn key set up? Any Input on whats going to fit and whats not going to fit and what kinda headers im going to need would be great. I do plan on keeping all the Power steering and I plan on keeping the AC and Heat so well let me know what you all think..

Patriot performance crate motors. People run 10s without tubs.

I Understand People Run 10's With out tubbing and Im not trying to run tens either I am trying to Build a good Streetable car with a decent ammount of power some good take off and I can still run it down the Highway at 80mph for a few hours and not use up all my Gas.. So what Kinda Power do you think i should put into this thing before I need to do Frame Bracing and what Kinda Headers should I be looking into and as for RR Gears and what not... what Types of Problems am I most lilkey to encounter and what not...

350hp with 3:42's and a 4speed transmission = one badass street car. Anything with less than a $50k price tag on it wont touch you.

Well the Budget I guess is going to be somewhere around that 6k area I want something with a good amount of power but I do not want to have to get all wild with a hood because of the motor.. If i can get away with it I would like to do just a 2"Cowl but I guess ill just have to wait and see until I get the motor in.. I am looking for something thats basically turn key just needs starter and water pump and Headers..
