OK, so the last guy that posted the cruise control questions didn't seem to get very far, I might not either but I thought I would at least ask the pertinent questions I have without hijacking his thread. Surely some of you master techs out there can answer this stuff without breaking a sweat. Granted, these questions aren’t holding up my build yet, but I’d like to know the skinny just the same..

I admit, I don't know where every G-Body part belongs ........ yet, but I will when I'm done with this heap. So I have general questions that most likely apply to more than just the G-Body cars. I have photos to correspond with some of my questions.

Does the cruise control servo have any built in intelligence? In other words, is it just a vacuum pod that takes direction from the cruise module or does it have specific year, make and model protocols?

I have two different cruise control servos, one about four inches across and the other about five and a half inches across. The only difference in the two that I can find externally is the size difference. I would rather use the small servo. It may be from an F-Body.

The end game question on the servo being; Does it really matter which unit a person uses as long as they use the correct cruise module for the year make and model?

As far as that goes, Does it really matter which cruise control module a person uses? The connectors and vacuum/electrical harnesses look nearly identical.

No, I will not be inconsolable if my cruise doesn’t work but I’d rather it did.

Where the hell is the module bracket mounted?

I don’t have one so I have no reference. Like Marvin Gaye said, “I ain’t too proud to beg”

I know there’s certain signals that need to be available. I assume they are brake switch, vehicle speed, PRNDL, specifically Park and Neutral. The thing uses Vacuum and electric signals so it can’t be that smart, what am I missing?

Here’s the bracket for a Tuned Port Engine. Probably doesn’t look anything like a stock G-Body V8 bracket.

Any help is appreciated, just add it to my tab. ...Scott. ...

I'll try and help a little. The module bracket on my Elky is just above the Throttle pedal. Sort of hard to see. The module's are interchangeable between G-bodies, as best as I know. The smaller underhood actuator I believe is for the F-body, and the larger one the Carb'd versions. Maybe larger because the carb has stronger return springs? The smaller F-body bracket fits on the driver's fenderwell, while the carb'd version mounts to a bracket attached to the rear of the intake manifold. There is no intelligence in the underhood modulators. I switched from a carb'd engine to TPI, and used the same stalk and inside the cab module, and also the same harness under the hood. There is a vacuum port on the brake switch that connects to the underhood module with a large vacuum hose. This releases the vacuum when you step on the brake, shutting the cruise off. The F-body version used a long sheathed cable to actuate the throttle, while the manifold mounted version uses a short rod. You will need VSS signal from the speedo to the module, and if you are not running your ECM you will need to do something for a ground ( do a search on the net- the info is there).

Scott, I would like to know also. I have a module, just bought the cruise parts for my BOP wagon, but I have no bracket like that under the dash. Hmmmm :?: :?: :?:

:edit: After looking at it for a few minutes, it looks like it share the same bolts as the accelerator pedal bracket. Perhaps bolted over the pedal bracket?
