After a month or two of machine shop hopping, measuring, balancing, and cleaning here is the short block. Don't laugh about the time scale, this was my first bottom end build and I wanted to make sure it was right.

Pistons are hypereutectic aluminum flat tops; cylinders honed with around 300/350 grit, after it was bored 30 over at the shop:

You can see here the machine work done by the shop to clearance the larger crankshaft. Main bearings are clevite 77, used a balanced kit from eagle with a cast stroker crank, I beam rods, etc etc:

Camshaft is installed and degreed, but I still have some work on this end:

Nothing fancy, just a late 80's chevy 350 block:

4% Finished...ha well at least your doing it right. good luck and keep us posted

Tell me about it, it took three times for the shop to clearance the block right for the crank, thank God I measured it the first time.

Heads:

Patriot freedom 68cc combustion chambers (195cc intake runners), flow tested at a 500 lift - 252 cfm. They pick up considerably from 500 to 600 lift so I took advantage of this aspect with the correct cam (will place cam specs later). I have the whole flow numbers, just ask, if you are thinking about doing something similar with these heads:

Heads were CNC bowl blended by Patriot, I had them pocket ported to match the larger 2.05/1.6 valves, you can see here the smoothed aluminum about an inch above the valves:

Dual springs, with oversize for hyd. roller lifters and roller rockers (am going with retrofit lifters which is the reason for no spider junk in the intake manifold valley  )

after tons of hours in color sanding, I wore through the paint in a few spots so it's in the process of touch up, then more color sanding :?

I'm giving up on the front clip and just leaving the old one in. I tried the modified calais one with plexi in front, but it didnt work. Soo I then made a skeleton out of extra cloth, foam, and resin I had from a surfboard but am giving up on that project too. It would just cost wayy to much in more resin, fancy bondo, and cloth (not to mention time). The old clip will go on again and I'll just insert wire mesh since I can't seem to find any good grilles.

o wow I forgot about this. So between that time and now a lot has been done. I'll try to keep it mostly pictures here and not so much writing.

Here's the engine bay after some spring cleaning. I like it a little ratty looking so probably not going to fix up much more than is already done in the engine bay.

this is the back end, which hasn't had a whole lot of work in it yet, just some random stuff I was bored with last summer. This is not how it's going to look when done 🙂 Also there's masking tape lines all over that's going to come off I was toying with the idea of putting some stripes on it but didn't like it once the lines were on

Nice car. I would paint the heads and intake gold too. Something about those big gold engines look so good.

needs body work bad :puke: The turn signals look awful..but for 10$ they're staying for now.

Decided on using the stock hood and cut out all the bracing. Weighs about 25 lbs this way. Needs reinforcment with a few lbs of aluminum stock. Needs an aluminum cowl, probably will weigh about 30lbs when done should be less than 40$, compared to 320$ for a 15lb fiberglass one.

How could you paint a sbc gold? 😀
