Yes, it was. One former Olds employee who has since passed on, that Chevrolet threw an absolute fit when this motor was planning on being built. Whether that has any truth to it, only those involved would have known. Unfortunately whether it was true or not, rising insurance and probably more the upcoming emissions and fuel efficiency standards played a much bigger part in it's demise. It was a big as what if as Olds F-88 which would have killed the Corvette in every way, yet wad never built fir anyone but Harley Earl.
