Ok, I know it seems like a dumb question, but I'm new to the G-body crowd. lol. Ok now that my excuse is out of the way, how does the dash come out (84 Cutlass) didn't know if there was a certain hidden screw, or a trick to it. I know the plastic is brittle and I don't wanna break anything. I took all the screws out from under the gauge "pod"s, but it won't come loose, it will tilt upwards alittle, but not pull out. Do I have to pull out the wood grain panels (headlight switch bezel, center vent wood grain piece with the Olds logo on it) to get to more screws? Just want to get back there and do some more deleting. Thanks for your help!

did you take the screws out of the defroster vents?

there should be 2 in each vent

You'll have to remove those dash trim pieces to get the part off that surrounds the instrument cluster.

If you want to keep going...

Once you're that far, you'll need to pull the cluster out far enough to disconnect the speedo cable and VSS connector, and you can set the cluster aside. If your car has cruise control, you can disconnect the cable under the hood, and make it easier to pull the cluster out a bit so you can disconnect the cable from the cluster.

Pull the speaker grilles, there are two more fasteners hidden there, also remove the ones at the defrost vents. Also disconnect the wires for the speakers.

Take out the stereo if it has one.
Unhook the wiring for the lighter.
Remove the heater controls and snake them back through the hole in the dash.

The lower portion attaches with one fastener on each side, and one behind the radio, in between the radio and the glove box.
Then there is the b*tch of unscrewing the wiring harness that is fastened to the back side of the dash.

Enjoy!

Haha thanks! Yea, pulling the dash is never a fun thing, but if I don't do it now while it's not running, I'll never do it once it is. lol. Plus if you pull it out, you'll find things to delete to make it easier to put back. haha. Already deleted the HVAC controls and it does have a radio (kinda). Didn't want to pull the plastic trim pieces... oh well, here it goes.

Cool, it all came off just like ya said. Just broke one stand off the radio/hvac controls bezel. Other than that it went good. Dont' think they were counting on anybody having to do that, those damn metal clips are TIGHT! lol. Had to take a pair of pliers to the back of em and smash them down alittle. good god... Putting it back together now. Thanks for the help, would've taken me days to find all those damn hidden screws...
