I spoke to my buddy today. He told me he lost his brakes over the weekend. He had done the Blazer brake upgrade with all new parts and recently added a set of Russell braided steel hoses.
One front hose dislodged from the crimped fitting. Has anyone ever heard or encountered this before?
I myself are using Russell brake hoses and have never had an issue with them, or heard of any problems before.

It happened to me by my fault with c5 brakes. I used the same lines on the blazer set up Prior to the c5 and made sure to check the orientation on the fitting with the blazer brakes and not the c5 ones. The line was hitting the frame on the caliper side and over time it broke off.

Check the frame to see if it's hitting and check the other side to.

and just to check to see if I should be aware of anything I did a google search "russell ss brake line failure" and it came up with no failures related to Russell, but Russell seems to be the preferred SS line

Thank you, Joe.
I hope he gets to see this thread...if not I'll have to direct him to it.
He did mention one side coming loose when he backed out of his driveway. He just re-torqued the banjo bolt and made a minor adjustment and was good to go.
He sounds disgusted at this point, and is thinking of going back to standard G-body brakes and spindles. I think it's something that can be rectified before having to disassemble everything.
I think he should replace the line before taking any drastic measures.

what about suggesting he replace it and send the defective one to Russell so they can determine if it was an authentic Russell hose and what was the cause of the problem

Steve,
I agree with you. I'm sure the Russell people would like to inspect and determine why this hose failed and what they can do to eliminate the problem in the future.
