1982 Regal. Never had problems before and now all of a sudden the delay wipers do not work. It just stays running in high speed no matter what setting I put it at.

any idea what is wrong?

You made me pull out the factory service manuals! I have a complete set of 1985 manuals, but only a chassis manual for 1982. Before I go any further, do you have the wiper switch on the turn signal stalk or the dash? Also, does your wiper motor have a white plastic thing on it with the washer fluid hoses coming out of it, or is the washer fluid pump in the bottom of the motor with the lines running to it? I will try to give you a reply tomorrow based on your answers to these questions. There are two different styles of G body wiper systems I am aware of, and I only have manuals with troubleshooting guides for one of them.

They started working again,,,oddly.

The switch is on the column, combination, directional, cruise and wiper.

I didn't see a white plastic thing, maybe the guy who had the car before me painted it black. Facing the wiper motor, the hoses come off the left top side.

The washers to not work either, I think it has to do with the stalk being bent by previous owner. I might just replace it all.

My wipers have a PITA problem too, but they now work in everything BUT high! Anyhow, that is a different motor than I have the manual for, but basically the intermittent part is contained both in the switch and on a circuit board on the motor itself. The problem is that the manual lists voltages for the plugs on the motor at different settings of the switch, and I am not sure if yours plugs in the same.

Mine are messed up too and I never really addressed the issue. The washer doesn't work and the wipers only work on low and high. If you select a delay setting the wipers just stop wherever they are. Any idea if its a bad motor or switch? is there a delay box in these cars? it sounds like its inside the motor.

Your symptoms sound like what will happen when you put a 2-speed wiper motor in a car that is meant to have a delay motor.

Somebody had done that prior to me buying my 442, and that's exactly what it would do.

i have a dam silly problem with my wiper, it works with delay, and everything, but the dam fluid won't come out. I got another motor, from a nice clean cutlass, and it still does not work.... I have no clue what it is. The fluid just won't come out. it doesn't even suck when i press the wash button.

That makes sence I had actually thought about that myself the other day. I guess i'll grab a wiper motor from the junkyard and give that a try. Thanks

Check the electrical plug-in on the motor first.
If you can see that it has been cut and spliced back together, than it is probably the case.
The electrical plugs are different between the two motors, so make sure to cut the plug-in off the donor car so you can switch it back.
