I have a 10 bolt 8.5 differential that seems to have a leak...the cover looks damp from the bottom half...

I have identified this differential by watching this video

...and finding the "ears" on the bottom corners of the cover...

The cover also looks old, if I replace the gasket to fix the leak, I want to also replace the cover...

Why does the cover look damp from the bottom end of it ?

It looks like a 7.5 probably a good time to change the fluid and reseal it or you can buy an aluminum cover that will seal a little bit better

That is a 7.5 10 bolt. It has "Fangs not square lugs".

Yea I couldn't find any identification marks, and the guy in the video seemed to simplify it down to the ears...

The 8.5's have the squared tabs so there is more material . The rear-end in the pics looks to be the more common 7.5 housing from most base model cars.
Top portion of the cover is lighter because the fluid that has leaked has not soaked into the dirt on the cover that high up yet.

Do I need this rear axle seal they are offering me ?
Only is they are leaking, then you need two and space to completely remove both axle shafts.
