distributor gear compatiblity

So I got all my goodies gathered up and started assembling my engine yesterday,I noticed now that the distributor (MSD) has a melonized steel gearand the cam is cast. So my questions to you guys is have you ever ran a steel gear on a cast cam? I quess I should just drive off the gear and put an iron one on but damn thats frustating,a new shiney part and I got to change something

I think most people would agree that a standard dist. gear would be fine the melonized gear is more of a steel billetroller cam

I'm pretty sure that was the same thing a buddy of mine did a few years ago. And it messed something up and he had to change the gear to a normal one.
