Im new to this site. I have an 86 Bonneville. There was an under hood fire that obviously burned up some wires and the carb. The engine is a 3.8 and had a 2bl carb. Ive sourced a 4bl manifold for less money than a replacement carb. My question lies with the distributor. Do I need to change the distributor. Im bypassing the computer with everything else. Do I need a distributor with vacuum advance or will this one still work properly without the computer? Thanks for any help you can give me.

You will need a distributor and a 4 barrel carburetor that is not computer controlled if you are removing the computer.

Yes, you will need a distributor with vacuum advance. A distributor from a 78-79 3.8 will work, as there were no computers used those years.

I had the carb before the car. Thats why I sought out the manifold. Thanks for answering my distributor question.
