'When I try to crank car it won’t turn off' - does this mean that the starter stays engaged and you can't get the starter to stop cranking, or does this mean that the car starts and then won't turn off with the key?
I'm going to assume that the car isn't starting. Fleming has described the Pink wire at the distributor precisley - t's how in the run and crank position - it it's not then the car either won't start or it won't stay running or both.
Purple wire that goes to starter solenoid to fire the starter is off from the column ignition switch. It should only be hot when the key is in the crank position. If it's hot whenever the key is in the run position, then the starter will continue to stay running. That's an easy check with a test light, the same as the pink wire at the dizzy. If the purple wire is only hot when the key is in the crank position, then you have something wrong with your starter (repeat again, this is if the starter doesn't disengage with the key). What are doing to get the starter to stop spinning the engine over?
And please correct my assumptions if they were incorrect. And the fusible links at the starter hot post should have nothing to do with your issue if everything is wired correctly.
