You may need different valve springs or different ratio rocker arms. But I dunno about complete heads. I have a decent size cam with stock 1.94 heads and different valve springs and rockers.

The size of the valve doesn't have as much importance as the actual flow rate/capacity of the runners themselves. You need heads that have runners capable of flowing the air needed for you camshaft choice. Springs will also become an issue with a larger camshaft because they have a limit as far as how far they can be depressed and then return properly

Having an engine that is bored .030" over does nothing to the heads :|

What size camshaft are you looking to get :?:
What heads do you currently have :?:
What intake manifold :?:
What carburetor :?:
Do you already have headers and a higher stall speed torque converter :?:

The general rule is not to go over .480" lift with a factory cylinder head  The more "performance" factory cylinder heads will be able to properly flow a camshaft up to the .480" lift range

Hope this helps

The worst thing you can do is "Over" cam an engine. There is no point in a big cam if you dont have head to match. Lingenfelter always said he would rather put on a good set of heads rather then just putting in a big cam.

im not sure the what heads i have i never took my motor apart ...i have a edlebrock performer intake and how do i tell what size the carb is??

Find the part number for the carb. What brand of carb is it?

the carb is edelbrock and has the numbers 1406 2380 ..is this a good carb? it came on the motor when i bought it..

Its a 600 cfm square bore and would work just fine for a mild 350.

A very simple way to identify your heads is to pop a valve cover off and get the casting number from the heads. This will give you an idea of what you can realistically run for a camshaft with those heads.
