Do I need my old engine wiring harness?

So I have my 3.8 V6 completely disconnected from the car and the only thing holding it in is the 2 motor mounts. I removed the entire engine wiring harness which brings me to this question. When I say engine harness, I mean the harness that connects to the firewall under the wiper motor as well as behind the passenger side inner wheel well and goes to the computer. My question is do I need any of this harness anymore? I'm going to be swapping to a Buick 350 with a manual choke and non-electric carburetor, I will be retaining the charcoal canister. I will be getting rid of the Air Conditioning. There were some wires to the starter, some to the distributor and some to the alternator. Do I need any of these wires or can I make the wires I need and get rid of this bulky awkward harness.

You will need some of the harness. I got a harness from a non computer G body and used that.

Which cars didn't have computers? That harness was a bit of a b***** getting out too, hopefully I won't have too much of an issue if I find one at a junkyard. Most of the issue was where the harness went through the firewall to the computer.

you might be able to separate it though, you just need the oil pressure, distributor wiring, starter and fusible links, alternator and temp. we were racing G bodies back then so I have tons of spare parts that we didn't use in the race cars..

I probably could except I kinda jacked up the connector where it attaches to the firewall under the wiper motor. If I get a junkyard harness I'll probably cut a hole in the inner fender to make it easier to acces that connector so I can get it out without damage.

All and engine needs is fuel, fire, air, and a place to put it all. It would be less of a hassle to keep the AC, less things to fight to get it out. But, it's your choice. Hell, some of the 350 buicks from the late 70s and 1980 had CCC q-jets. 😛 I plan on doing this swap for my regal for spring break (still in highschool, for those who don't know, Junior), so I look forward to see how this goes. Get some pics if you can!
