Shouldn't say 14 on the gauge when its off.

I'd change the positive cable since that's the last thing left but if that doesn't work I'm going to say your "new" starter is probably drawing too many amps and cooking your battery

I would also change that last cable , but i agree with 83 street machine sounds like starter is likely problem . Most auto parts stores can do a draw test on it .

Never said it did. Or At Least didnt mean to. It reads 14ish when running.

How long are you running it before shutdown? Long enough for heat soak?
Time dont matter. 10 seconds or an hour long drive. It will still do it, but only sometimes.

As I mentioned earlier, with Iowa's stupid f*cking weather, we had a day or so above freezing for the first time in about a month and a lot of snow melted. I think some water got splashed in the starter and froze and locked it up. I warmed it with a blowtorch on the aluminum part (not even long enough to get it too hot to touch) and it freed it. It will also sometimes act like the gear is spinning before it comes out and then hits the flexplate as its spinning. I think my new starter is now toast. F*ckin Iowa man. I have never seen so many potholes in my life.
