It is possible as the one I pulled out of one of the Monte/Lumina's I that was with the wire harness for the RKE project should work. Being a plastic body it has a ground wire which ours do not & they one wire color was changed. I don't have the direct info handy right now & will need to be dug out with the stuff needed to get ready for the spring work.is it possible to replace an oem door lock relay on an 87 Elky with a modern 5 pin relay? If yes does anyone have the wiring diagram to put it together?

Hey, thanks for info and espicially the pictures. That helps me a lot!OK, here's some pics of the relay I pulled out of an '98 Monte Carlo. Not sure if all '95-'99 Chevy W bodies used this one or just the '97-99.

The only wire color change is to circuit 194, which is the unlock circuit, & it went from black to white. I would say it could of been due to the addition of the ground wire as our originals grounded through the relay's metal body. One could be crafty & crimp on the teminals for the connector body or as most would just splice it in. My wiring OCD would make an adaptor harness to allow going back to the original style if needed.
The orange/black stripe wire (14 GA) is circuit 60 a battery hot lead. This is feed by power accessory circuit breaker. The power switches both have a circuit 40 orange wire (18 GA) going to them. This feed by 20 amp CTSY-CLK fuse.I was wondering if any of the wires leading to the oem relay should be constantly hot?
