I need some help can someone please give me the measurement of a stock drive shaft for a 200r4 with a 7.5 rear end. I have tried to find it with no luck I have an 8.5 and I think the previous owner made the stock one work by jamming it in there but not sure.

Do you need the length of the drive shaft or the difference between a 7.5" and 8.5" carrier and how much drive shaft you'll have to cut?

If you have the stock one in there (which I can't believe would fit at all unless the 200r4 came with the car) then just measure it. If you don't have it, go get one at a junkyard and have it cut/welded/balanced. Usually runs about 80-120$ for shortening or lengthening.

Measure it to where it's snug-- the measurement of the straight driveshaft from where the yoke is all the way in the transmission to how much you think would fit the u-joint end very snug. Then take about 1.5" off that measurement for movement and that's the length you need. It's easier to do with a driveshaft in the yoke so you can get a correct measurement

Then take 1.5" off it, should run you around 100$. Find a place locally to you that does this, there should be a machine shop around, just ask your local auto part store people or call around different machine shops till you find a reputable place.

That's just a rule of thumb I've learned is measure snug with no play, then cut 1.5". Always better to check with the guys who will actually be doing the cutting/welding

A lot of places, like the one around here, like to do the measuring themselves, so they know it's correct.

All we had to do was jack up the car so it was sitting on the suspension, and they came right to the shop, measured, and took the driveshaft and did their thing.
