I've read a lot of stuff saying I need to modify my crossmember to covert over to dual exhaust. I just wanted to find out if anyone had ever just used shims to raise the crossmember just enough to allow the exhaust to clear. From what I can tell, raising it even an inch would be plenty of clearance. Does anyone think there would be a problem with this??

You would throw off the angle of your transmission/driveshaft, which can cause driveline vibration. Usually 3-4º is the norm. To properly tuck the exhaust up you would need pretty much the entire height of the crossmember. Here's what I did with mine:

True. I also found out that if I raise the cross member, it would raise the transmission, which would raise the engine, which would raise the exhaust...so it was pointless. I'm putting on some purple hornies which bolt up right to the headers, so I can't just go to the passenger side...wish I could though. It would save me a lot of trouble. Anyway, I think I'm just gonna buy the double hump jegster for $130. I suck at welding, and I can't find a shop near by who's willing to do it either.

Check around at junkyards. If you cant find a modded one in a G, check A-body cars (I don't actually know what they are)

I just picked up a dual hump from an "A" body (Thats what I was told it was from), you just need to shorten it and redrill holes.
