Hello can you turn a dual plane intake into a single plane buy girnding out the center?

No. That's the scariest thing I've ever heard.

it is an aluminum intake what is the worst that could happen?

You can do this....my dad did some dirt circle track racing in the 80's and he did that exact thing to a stock 289 intake.

you could, but i guarantee you'll lose power. intakes are ENGINEERED. you will screw up the airflow as the runners are designed to work with the separation. however, you can grind down the wall about 1/2in but there's no real point. single planes are proven not to affect power until over 5k, sometimes higher. and they're proven to lose power under about 4k.
