E85 Ethanol

nice commercial, back in 2011 nascar tried out the e85 and with all their engineers and money they dumped the fuel cause it does not work. To try to please the tree huggers they run the e15. The nascar e15 is race fuel that is not available at the pump. Ethanol is more expensive to produce than gas so that is a false claim that e85 is cheap.

Hey guys MCM (mighty car mods) have a great video on e85 and Ethanol
I saw that same video yesterday. I think they really hype up the fuel though. I'll keep running my cars on tyrannosaurus rex and triceratops.

me personal with having two vehicles one that is run on e85 (flex fuel) and one on dinosaur juice. i say e85 has its place in new vehicles but with older vehicles there is really no advantage.

I have to agree to disagree - it all depends on what you are doing with your vehicle if any of it makes sense. Plain and simple gas w/o ethanol is the best when it comes to economy(best btu's). I've been running alcohol for the last 5 years and in my case, and some of this E-85 hype, it works. When your looking for performance you have to tune your engine to what fuel your using to get the right A/F ratio or correct stoichiometric combustion. For gas it's about 12.8 / 1 A/F and alcohol it's about 6.0 / 1 A/F at WOT. So although gas has a better yield btu I'm using that much more alcohol that I make more btu's on alcohol. My Regal makes 420 HP on gas and 460 HP on alcohol. Like it or not alternative fuels are coming.
