So....I finally removed the gas tank on my El Camino.
I had mentioned that I needed a gas tank sending unit because I swapped the V6 (Throttle body Injection electric pump) and installed a V8, using a mechanical fuel pump. I had installed a 1985 Monte Carlo sending unit because the parts store didn't have one for the Elky and I wanted to get the car on the road that weekend (5 years ago). Well, I wasn't sure about the capacity (17.5 or 22 gallons), so I loaded my "Emptied" gas tank in the back of my Stepside pick-up and went to the Gas station.
Hmmmm, it took 18.5 gallons...WTF! This really proves that the gas stations are screwing us, saying it took more than it really did!
I finally decided to Order the sender from Rock auto supply... best price (I checked). Auto Zone or Advance Auto, doesn't even list it! Hopefully, I'll get it delivered this coming week and won't worry about running out of gas anymore, because the pick-up tube from the Monte only went 3/4 of they way to the bottom of the tank..... again, WTF!
