That's the build date/partial vin. Look at the top left rear of the block where it bolts to the trans, this will have your block casting number and engine displacement.
It will probably look something like this.

Then go here to figure out what engine it is:

It looks like you *MIGHT* have a crate motor made in Mexico. They are a dime a dozen and push about 220 hp from the flywheel. Do like dobber said and confirm though, I could be wrong.

got those numbers it was def made in mexico seen that on the block the numbers are 10066036

10066036...350...........2 or 4...Target Master/Goodwrench crate motor, 2-piece rear
seal, "Hecho en Mexico"

does anyone kno what year this engine is and what car it might have been in.. i need to buy some parts for it

It is a crate motor . . . it was usually purchased as a replacement engine.

I think it is what used to be called a "Targetmaster" 350, or later a "Goodwrench" 350. If so, it has 7.8:1 compression, small port heads, and a very tame cam with about .400 lift. Basically, it is a service replacement engine for the RPO LM-1 350 that was used from 1975-through 1985. It made 155hp SAE net, or probably around 200-220hp gross. (net is all accessories attached, all smog equipment and a full exhaust).

Depending on the configuration of how the engine was set up, you should be able to just order parts for your year 305 and it should all work. My car started out as a V6, I swapped in a 1977 350 with 1984 Camaro 305 HO brackets and accessories, and I just buy parts for that year Camaro. Assuming you have a factory 305 car...err truck, just order service parts for the 305. The only difference between a 305 and a 350 is the stroke and maybe the harmonic balancer. They use the same gaskets, valve covers, ignition, etc. The carb may have a minor difference in the idle feed restriction size, but other than that it should be the same too.

ok thats alot that helped out alot.. i will be at the auto parts store as soon as i get of work tomorrow... cant wait to start workin on it

I would probably assume it uses the same pistons as later ('87+) motors. You can build a pretty strong runner out of it with a set of Vortecs, fairly mild cam (compared to many at least), and a carbed Vortec intake.

I sure beat that Vortec drum a lot 😳 But it's worked well for me and my initial investment of $700 into the motor (included new cam/lifters/timing set, oil pump, junkyard Vortecs + seals, used intake, already had the carb, main bearings and all gaskets)... just a shame I had to pull it all back apart because it was burning oil
