They are pretty decent motors. I have the same one in my car. Stock minus an aluminum intake and Edlbrock 600, it runs 15.1 in the 1/4. Not fast but for a crate it's not bad. Headers and a slightly larger cam would get you in the 14's.

I went 13.7 in a 1/4 with this motor with only a cam, intake and carb swap. Not a bad little street motor. It is now in my dads corvette cause I wanted to go faster. 😀

I'm not sure for that one, but I have a shop manual for my '92 Sierra, and the plug gap for the 350 in those is .060". Gapped my plugs in the 'Bu to that, and it seems to be runnin' alright, I'd like to go with an ignition upgrade though (coil & module) sometime in the future.

Auto Zone told me .45 also. BUT, I went to NAPA the other day and presented my plug dilemma like I had never asked anyone before and they told me .35. I trust the folks at NAPA. They've been far more helpful and knowledgeable in the past and sounded like they knew what they were talking about....unequivocally! Go with the Auto-lite .35 and the hotter of the two plugs. Basically they have a stock one for that motor at .35 and (1) that is a tad hotter, go with that one. I did and the car/truck runs great!
