5.3 LS sitting in my 85 Elcamino but Alternator will not allow hood to close. too high with stock brackets. i see some pics with hood closing with stock 5.3 truck brackets. are my mounts the problem? trying to use my stock accessory brackets if possible? any and all info appreciated. thanks

What mounts/pan do you have? The pan has to almost be on the tie rod ends when at full steering lock. Some 'kits' put the engine up quite a bit depending on the pan that's used.
You also likely need a smaller amp alternator. I think I have one off a 06 1500, basically just a low amp unit, the case is smaller size.
