here a bone head question.installing a holley electric fuel pump and fitler coming from a fuel cell.does it go fuel pump then filter or filter then pump. :blam:

Most put a filter before AND after the pump. Usually a 100 micron before and 10 micron after if I remember correctly.

before AND after? well i think thats just a waste of money for me. id just put one infront of the filter and call it a day. but im not racing and also have a crap engine

The problem with just one after the pump is that it won't keep dirt out of your pump.

Look at a factory setup, they almost all have a "sock" inside the tank that helps keep debris out of the fuel lines and then another filter after the pump.

I agree with FE3X before and after filter. Alot of crap gets inside the fuel tank and settles to the bottom. Well once your tank gets low enough guess what's going to get sucked through your fuel pump

sorry i ment put the filter infront of the pump.

The problem with only using one filter in front of the pump is in the size. You are supposed to be relying on gravity feeding the pump, using a filter that is small enough to properly filter the fuel completely it could restrict fuel going in to the pump. That's why you want a larger(micron) filter before the pump, to keep the larger junk from damaging the pump but not restrict flow. And a smaller one after the pump to properly filter the fuel before it enters the carb(and it's smaller passages).
