electrical problem

my 84 grand prix has started having a problem with the dome light not coming on and the trunk light and the power locks not working with the doors open. any ideas what my issue could be?? or an idea where i should start looking? everything in the car is from factory too.

for the door locks check the wiring between the A pillar and the door....for the lites does the dome lite come on with the switch?.....if it does then it's the door pin and if not see if the bulb is burnt .... if not then check the grounds and them the 12v wire till you find the problem

the door locks work with the doors closed, and the dome light doesn't come on with the switch or opening the door, but it has came on while driving, not fully on but enough to notice at night a few times.... the trunk light has become very dim and stops working when either door is opened. and this all started at the same time

Dim lights almost always point to a ground issue. How are the headlights? Is the body ground strap still attached, it usually is at the negative post on the battery just a smaller wire coming out of the negative cable hooked to the inside of the fender or core support. The lights also have grounds at the mounting point as well.

so i've been trying to figure this problem out and its just more baffling. when the trunk light is on aka open trunk the dome light comes on. if i turn the headlight switch to the interior lights or open the door the trunk light and dome light go out (with the trunk open) and the under dash lights come on. door locks only work when the trunk and doors are closed. im been also looking at the wiring digrams on maliburacing.com i took real close look at the fuse panel and found an unmarked fuse blown. put a new one in there everything is working fine...... :shock: ive been writing this as i have been going along with this project today so about an hour and a half. just for a damn fuse.
