Anybody know if the front Pontiac emblem on a '78/'79 LeMans is the same as the ones found on mid-late '70's Firebird/Trans Am? I've been looking at pictures on the web and they look like they might be. I'm just wondering if they're not as tall. I want to get a new one for my car once it's painted and I can get a new repro one from a place that makes them for Trans Ams.

I dont know but you can check on Ebay and maybe buy an old one if you can find it cheap enough and go from there before you shell out the money for a new one

That's kinda what made me ask. Saw one on ebay for $50 plus shipping and saw one in the National Parts Depot Trans Am online catalogue for a little less. Wasn't really planning on buying now and figured if they were the same I could wait and get one out of the catalogue later and save a bit of $$.

I bought one from Classic Industries for a Firebird for my 1978 Lemans. My original one's red color had faded. Except that the new emblem was golden instead of red, it fit like a glove. I had it installed for a year after I found a red, new one. Ah, I just forgot: there's just one pin on the back for the speed nuts, not two.

What about Grand Am, in the same years as LeMans? It looks similar in pics? I've seen them aroun, but would rather not blow $20-$50 if it donts fit!!

I just checked some pics of the Grand Am emblem and compared them to the Lemans' and it really looks like they will fit. By the way, here's a picture of different views from the Firebird emblem (77-81 F-Bird front emblem golden, #10005607 OER Classic Industries). The red one was mounted on my 78 Grandlemans. All I had to do was to pounce of a little nipple that would assure alignment on the firebird, but it was too high for the pontiac hole. But it kept perfectly in place with only one pin/speed nut, due to the specific shape.

That 77 to 81 firebird/T/A nose crest/emblem is available at Summit for 38.00 I am going to get one for my 81 lemans

Hey guys, just a quick note for you, While the emblem listed is very nice, it`s the wrong part number. that one is for 78-80 GrandAm not Lemans. The correct part number for a lemans is 10000803. I`m don`t really know what the difference is, but the partnumbers for both a different. I found a nos one for my lemans 2 months age that I haven`t installed yet and a GrandAm nose with the original emblem still on. let me remove it tomorrow and take a couple of pics to see what the differences are and I will post them.
