I've been researching enclosed trailers for a few months now.
If it were me I would go with an 8.5'x24' at a minimum for ease of resale. You also want to get one that has the 5200# axles. The ones that come with dual 3500# axles will be close to overloaded by the time you get a full weight Gbody in there.

A local place to me sells Sure-trac trailers for around $6,200. That's an 8.5x24 with wedge front, 10,000lb gvwr, dual electric brakes, etc.

Thanks, I did not know that about trailers. I was looking at one that had less than 5200# axles. I can't stop looking at the one lilbowtie has, but I don't have the cash right now.

In your original post you said you wanted somewhere to protect your car from the elements. Surely a self assembly steel shed would fit your needs?, it seems to me you are looking at trailers suitable for taking a trailer queen show car around.
When you come to move you could simply disassemble a shed and take it with you, or sell it on if you no longer need it. To move your car if it can't be driven just rent a trailer for a one off job.

I agree, you can get a G-Body into a 20 foot trailer but you will never sell it. 17+ years of circle track racing I have owned many enclosed trailers, and like someone else said watch who you buy them from, there is a bunch of scam companies in the Atlanta area that sell absolute garbage trailers. Hallmark makes the best trailer hands down, just do your research or talk to guys about what they own. A couple other things for all to keep in mind trailers have very weak roofs and need to be kept free of snow in the winter or it will crush the roof on a non-walking roof trailer. Also watch the Max trailer weight on the manufacture tag if you exceed that you are violating some major DOT laws, your are hauling a 4,000+ car in a 6,000+ trailer start doing some math, the cheap trailers you find will only have a 10,000 pound GVW so you can easily go over. I hauled a 2,900 pound pro stock dirt car, with 20+ tires and wheels, spare trans, rear-end, body, tools, generator, 55 gallon fuel drum, and enough parts to make it through 3 day weekends all in a 32 foot Tri-Axle Hallmark trailer with a 16,000 pound rating and on Mayflower scales it was 14,250 pounds. My F-350 with a V-10 towed it great, but you also have to watch the rear wheel max weight on the tow truck you are equally in trouble if caught over on that. A close friend of mine killed a 16 year old girl in a traffic accident on the way to the races and the DOT brought scales out and he was 2,200 pounds over on the trailer and 1,100 over on the rear tire truck weight. He will likely go to jail for this, now keep in mind he towed this trailer for five years without trouble and never gave any of it a thought. The DOT is cracking down on this big time as enclosed trailers become more common, and it is your job to know the laws and what your equipment is rated at. I agree with the above post a trailer would not be my choice for storage either, but if you do buy one just keep in mind they require a lot of maintenance even if they just sit in your yard.

I wish it was that easy, I would have had the shed up last year. In my neighborhood I can only put a shed (already have a wood one) in my back yard and it can't be no more than 150 sq. ft. I can build a carport of garage, but it has to be attached to my house and built on concrete or payment. I tried to put pavers down and they said I could not do that. I have a 4 car driveway, so it is easier/cheaper for me to just put in inside a trailer. Also my car will not be a trailer queen, cars are made to be driven.

Thanks, this is a lot of helpful information. I was looking at a Hallmark trailer, but they are too high.

Sorry, I hadn't taken into account your local outbuilding laws. In the UK out of major city centres it's not much of a problem in most areas.
I didn't mean to imply you wanted to build a trailer queen, but an enclosed trailer is what they are transported on, of course so are race cars, and maybe we could forgive the owner of a Model T Ford or similar for not driving it long distances to a show. 🙂

No hard feelings, also I hope you don't think I am upset 😀 Its not like that in every state, that's why I miss Alabama 🙁 I will also be using the trailer for other things too. I just can't wait til I move to NC and I will not be having this problem. Also if I had a Model T Ford it would be a trailer queen.
