Hello to all my fellow ehtusiats. I am looking for help on a engine swap. I have currently the 307 v-8 with the thm 200 transmission. I am looking for a direct swap on a engine. I dont want to bother with having to weld new mounts etc... I have had my cutlass since 1995. I have had the engine replaced before with the same type and transmission rebuilt also. That was done around in 1996. I have had the same setup since then. I am asking for help or ideas that can help me out on this. In the mean time while I can find the eng I have had problems with my existing eng. Before the winter came the eng started shaking or idleing rough. I would try to accerlate and it seems it just wanted to stall out. I have replaced the plugs, wires cap and rotor and coil. This did not help. Any suggestions on what to look at next? I am looking for a good project to start with my boys (sons) until I find the appropriate drive train. Thank you all in advance for your time and responses.

change fuel filter and add a bottle of star tron enzyme fuel treatment... yuppp, snake oil... lol... i have found with the half dozen G-bodies i have owned, that none of them have liked this new ethanol added gas... the star tron enzyme fuel treatment helps to stop ethanol issues, staggering, sputtering, stalling, rough idle, etc... i use a small bottle to a half tank of gas and run it near empty then fill with 93 and it usually fixes the rough running... ONLY reason i even tried the stuff was because it came highly recommended, and its very clean burning... put a few drops on a piece of glass, light it, and let it burn off and you'll see there is NO residue... i use a bottle every few months when they start running funky...

Did you replace the fuel filter?

That is what i am going to do next. The weather is finally nice here and able to start wotking on it. the Check eng light sone times come on also. hopefully the filter is whast the problem is. I even thought about rebuilding the carb. I am still hesitant on it because its been a while since i have done one.

You know i have never heard of this fuel treatment. Is it at a common parts store? Is it costly?

Fuel treatment cost from $2-$20.

I swapped in an olds 350 and everything bolted right on. If you have any headers on the 307 that should migrate over as well.

as far as your current issues you can change parts out left and right and never find the problem(s) I changed from the Rochester to an edlebrock carb and that lasted 2 years, then issues again.
